The competiton is now closed, but the Galleries of sparkling entries are there for you to view. The standard of entry has been exceptional with accolades being gained from many professional and seasoned carpenters...well done to all students and their teachers.
Entries have been received from all parts of the UK and we have all been amazed at the diversity of the pieces and timbers used as well as the skills involved in their production. Chairs, tables, coat stands, jewellery boxes, musical instruments, desks, magazine racks, bird tables, steps, and much, much more.
The prizewinners were presented with their awards by Norman McKenna, Brooks Bros (UK) Ltd's Operations Director, on the Fitchett & Woollacott Stand at the Design & Technology Show on 16 November (visit the News section on this website). During the show, well-known carpenter Phil Davy demonstrated his joinery skills, sparking off some ideas in the minds of teachers for 2008 projects!
F&W emphased the importance they attach to procuring timber from sustainable sources.
Once again congratulations to all who took part in this year's competition.
